High RAM/CPU Usage
Diagnosing the Issue
- Go to Dashboard → Server → Performance
- Check the graphs for RAM and CPU usage over time
- Identify when spikes occur
Common Causes & Fixes
RAM Issues
| Cause | Fix |
|---|
| Too many loaded chunks (MC) | Reduce view-distance |
| Too many entities | Use cleanup mods/plugins |
| Memory leak in mod | Update or remove the mod |
| Too many players for plan | Upgrade RAM |
| Heavy modpack | Allocate more RAM |
| World too large | Prune unused chunks |
CPU Issues
| Cause | Fix |
|---|
| Redstone machines (MC) | Limit redstone tick rate |
| Mob farms | Cap entity counts |
| Heavy plugins (FiveM scripts) | Profile and optimize |
| Map generation | Pre-generate chunks |
| Too many active events | Reduce complexity |
Minecraft-Specific Optimization
# server.properties
view-distance=8
simulation-distance=6
max-tick-time=60000
entity-broadcast-range-percentage=50
JVM Flags for Minecraft (Paper)
-XX:+UseG1GC -XX:+ParallelRefProcEnabled
-XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=200 -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions
-XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch
-XX:G1NewSizePercent=30 -XX:G1MaxNewSizePercent=40
-XX:G1HeapRegionSize=8M -XX:G1ReservePercent=20

When to Upgrade
- RAM consistently above 85% → Upgrade plan
- CPU consistently above 80% → Upgrade to a higher plan
- Frequent OOM crashes → Need more RAM immediately
