Backups & Restoration

Automatic Backups

GameHostCloud automatically backs up your server based on your plan:

Manual Backup

1. Dashboard → Server → Backups tab
2. Click "Create Backup"
3. Add a description (e.g., "Before mod update")
4. Wait for the backup to complete (1-5 minutes depending on size)
5. Download backup as .zip if you want a local copy

Restoring from Backup

1. Go to Dashboard → Server → Backups
2. Find the backup you want to restore
3. Click "Restore"
4. Confirm the restoration (this will overwrite current data)
5. Server will restart automatically after restoration

> ⚠️ Warning: Restoring a backup will replace all current server data. Make a manual backup first if needed!

Backup Best Practices

• ✅ Create a manual backup before installing mods or major changes
• ✅ Download important backups to your local computer
• ✅ Label backups with descriptions for easy identification
• ✅ Test restorations periodically to ensure backups work
• ❌ Don't rely solely on automatic backups for critical data

Off-Site Backups

Download backups via the Dashboard or FTP and store them:

• On your local computer
• On cloud storage (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.)
• On an external hard drive

Disaster Recovery

If your server data is corrupted beyond repair:

1. Contact support immediately
2. We maintain additional infrastructure-level backups
3. Backups and recovery options depend on the selected plan; contact support if data restoration is needed.
