Diamond ore in modern Minecraft generates from Y 16 down to Y -64 with a triangular distribution that peaks just above the bedrock layer, which makes Y -59 the single best level to mine. Bedrock generates jaggedly between Y -64 and Y -60, so mining lower wastes swings without increasing ore density. An efficient branch mine runs a two block high main tunnel at Y -59 with side branches spaced three blocks apart, which exposes nearly every vein while excavating a fraction of the stone. Fortune III averages roughly 2.2 diamonds per ore block instead of one, so it more than doubles yield per trip. Cave mining and deep dark exploration reach the same depth naturally and expose more block faces per minute, at the cost of higher risk from the Warden and sculk shriekers. On multiplayer servers, heavy mining forces many chunks to stay loaded and tick simultaneously, so adequate RAM, a Paper based server jar and fast SSD backed storage matter as much as the mining pattern itself.
